Maybe this isn't the best advice since we're adding to his call volume, but I contact his state office from time to time just to thank him and his staff. I'm sure they can use the encouragement

I think it’s actually good advice. By registering calls, they have data that they can use to keep track of public sentiment, and it’s better than using third party data collection. They have one person assigned each day to answer the calls and they have the voicemail to keep track when they can’t answer the phone.

Plus, the number of calls and texts we get asking for money is ridiculous. This year I would text ’STOP’ and they would switch to a different number. They can handle us calling them in times of crisis.
