Because my Executive Functioning Skills Suck...
TL/DR: I'll be posting on Wednesdays and Saturdays (but today's Tuesday????)
For those people who know me, I am a strange bird. I have so many interests, ranging from teaching science/math/history/social science/psychology through ghost hunting to 1930s-WWII and similarities with today, to trying to teach people to be logical with their voting (today was our town budget vote, and the first selectwoman had changes to the town ordinances on the ballot trying to extend her term two more years and not have to run again this year…but that’s a whole ‘nother rat’s nest that I won’t go down right now…). And, in addition to being able to talk forever on any one of my special interests, my time management skills (among many others) are totally horrible. So, I’ve decided to set a writing schedule for myself. That way, you, dear reader, can look forward to (or dread) a more regular schedule for my strange musings.
One of my big frustrations having Asperger’s Syndrome is that I have a horrible time with executive functioning. Time management, organization, focus (the list goes on, but for a good overview of executive functioning, check this link), my neurological differences due to my AS make my ability to do these things difficult. Add to it my ADHD (Hyperactive type) and my Alexithymia, and I have difficulty fitting in out there (unless I am masking). And, I can’t keep to regular schedule unless I have done it for a long time or have it set on my phone to remind me.
So, I will set may phone to remind me every Wednesday and Saturday to sit down and write. Hopefully, it won’t be too long before it becomes a habit. I will try to start tomorrow, and I will write a little about Alexithymia, since it’s one of those unique differences that most people don’t know about. Also, the American Psychological Association doesn’t recognize it as a real disorder in the DSM-5. However, I always thought that the APA was full of it and only recognized mental health disorders that could be treated with medications (HMMM…I wonder if the pharmaceutical industry had something to do with that?). Plus, that doesn’t make it not real, just harder to get supports for it unless you have money.
So, until tomorrow, dear reader…
